Examination and Promotion criteria for class VI to VIII

Promotion will be granted on the basis of the whole year performance of the students which covers all aspects of students’ development. This is a process to provide holistic profile of the learner through regular assessment of both scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas.

  • Scholastic area includes: In one academic session there will be to two terms.
  • Co-scholastic areas will be assessed on: 1. Work Education, 2. Visual and performing, 3 Health and physical education. Above will be assessed and graded once in an academic year.
  • The session will be spread over two terms, one from January to July( First Term) and second from August to December.(2nd Term).

Minimum qualifying grade in all the subjects under Scholastic Domain is D

Co-Scholastic Activities (Classes VI-VIII):

 For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas carried out and graded term-wise on a 3-point grading scale.

 (A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair).

The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork is the generic criteria for grading in the following co-scholastic activities:

(a) Work Education -skill-based activities resulting in goods or services useful to the community

(b) Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)

(c) Health and Physical Education (Sports/Yoga/etc.)

 

Discipline (Classes VI-VIII):

 The students are assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, and tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others.

Grading on Discipline will be done term-wise on a 3-point grading scale.

(A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair)

 

Note:

It would be mandatory to appear in both, half yearly exam and final exam of an academic session. In case of non- appearance in any one of the above mentioned exam on the ground of illness, or any other personal reason, the students will be advised to repeat the same grade.

Promotion of a student to next grade will be based on cumulative assessment of the periodic assessments, half yearly exam and final examination.
